modern mat

For studios

Host Modern Mat at your studio.

Bring mat-based movement teacher training to your community — Pilates, sculpt, and strength taught as one integrated certification. You provide the room and the local reach; we provide the curriculum, platform, mentors, and certification.

Why studios partner with Modern Mat

A program your community actually wants

Mat-first training across Pilates-inspired work, sculpt, and strength — not another reformer-only cert or a choreography binder. Your students and instructors get a methodology built for how boutique studios actually teach.

Two weekends, not a full-time residency

The in-person cohort runs on two weekend intensives with self-paced online modules between. Your studio hosts the application layer — movement labs, peer teaching, and practicum — without giving up your weekly schedule for months.

Same certification, two tracks

In-person cohort students and virtual students complete the same ten modules and earn the same Modern Mat certification. Hosting a cohort puts your studio on the map for both local trainees and online students who want in-person weekends nearby.

Built for boutique spaces

The training only requires mats, light dumbbells, and bands — the equipment most mat and sculpt studios already have. No apparatus investment, no reformer dependency.

What Modern Mat provides

  • Full curriculum — ten modules from mindset and foundations through practicum, plus appendix reference materials
  • Learning platform — progress tracking, assessments, peer teaching coordination, and capstone submission
  • Mentor review — module assessments reviewed before students unlock the next module
  • Certification — Modern Mat credential on passing written assessment and capstone class video
  • Cohort operations — application review, enrollment, and student communication for hosted cohorts
  • Weekend programming — detailed schedules for Weekend 1 (foundation & movement) and Weekend 2 (practicum)

What your studio provides

  • Studio space for two weekend intensives — typically Saturday and Sunday, two separate weekends
  • Mats and basic props — quality mats, light dumbbells (3s and 5s), and resistance bands for movement labs
  • Local community — instructors, front desk staff, or members who can spread the word to prospective trainees
  • A professional environment — clean, well-lit room with enough floor space for a cohort of 12–20 students

How it works

  1. 01

    Reach out

Tell us about your studio — location, class formats, typical room capacity, and when you'd like to host a cohort.

  2. 02

    Align on a cohort

We schedule an in-person cohort window (e.g. October or November), confirm weekend dates, and outline what each weekend requires from your space.

  3. 03

    Students apply and enroll

Trainees apply through Modern Mat, choose your hosted cohort at enrollment, and complete Modules 1–4 online before Weekend 1.

  4. 04

    Weekend 1 — foundation & movement

Students arrive having completed mindset, foundations, anatomy, and safety online. Weekend 1 is applied work — movement labs, experiencing sculpt and classical mat work as students, and building the observational eye in the room.

  5. 05

    Between weekends

Students complete Modules 5–8 online — cueing, class design, prenatal & postpartum, and business — plus submit a practice teaching video before Weekend 2.

  6. 06

    Weekend 2 — practicum

Peer teaching rounds, written assessment, and capstone class at your studio — exact timing varies by cohort. Certification awarded after capstone video submission and mentor review.

A good fit if you

  • Run mat, Pilates-inspired, sculpt, or hybrid group classes
  • Have a dedicated studio room that can hold 12–20 mats with clear sightlines
  • Want to offer teacher training without building curriculum from scratch
  • Are in a market where instructors want rigorous, mat-first certification
