Privacy policy
Last updated: June 2026. This policy describes how modern mat ("we," "us") handles information when you visit modernmat.com, apply for enrollment, or use our online training platform.
This is a working policy for our platform. Have your counsel review it before relying on it for compliance in your jurisdiction.
Information we collect
Application data. When you apply, we collect name, email, and the information you submit in the application form (including cohort preference and short-answer responses).
Account data. If you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) processes sign-in credentials and profile information you provide.
Enrollment & payment. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, tier purchased, and associated metadata needed to grant course access. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Course activity. We store lesson progress, quiz attempts, written submissions, peer review assignments, and mentor feedback needed to operate the certification program.
Technical data. Like most websites, our host and analytics tools may collect IP address, browser type, and usage logs for security and performance.
How we use information
We use your information to:
- Review applications and communicate enrollment decisions
- Provide access to course content and track your progress
- Facilitate mentor review, peer teaching, and certification
- Process payments and maintain enrollment records
- Improve the platform and respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
How we share information
We share data with service providers that help us operate the platform, including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Neon (database hosting), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of our users and the platform.
Retention
We retain application, enrollment, and course records for as long as needed to deliver the program, support certification, and meet legal or accounting requirements. You may request deletion of certain data subject to our need to maintain records for completed certifications.
Your choices
You may update account information through your profile settings. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal data, contact us. If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), include your request type and we will respond within applicable timelines.
Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated access to the learning platform, and restricted admin tools. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our training is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has submitted personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
